Why the name CLOVER?  Well, we are putting the

Welcome to CLOVER Recycling

2024 Materials Saved From Landfill!

Our first goal is to provide a community drop off center for residents who take the extra time to clean and sort their recycling.  100% of what we accept in our facility is recycled.  Once we have 40,000 pounds (a semi truckload) of one material, we sell it to the highest bidder.  We look first to buyers/manufacturers within the Great State of Ohio, but will look outside the state if the pricing is too low.

Our second goal is to provide deconstruction services to businesses and industries that would like to recycle large quantities of items, but the items are not accepted in their current condition.  For example, a pallet of boxes that have bags of bottles (pallets, cardboard, bags and bottles...4 highly desired recyclable items, but considered waste when all together.)

Our third goal is to provide recycling of all of those materials!

The statistics below represent the amount of material that we have SOLD!  (not the amount of material that we have taken in or processed as some are waiting for a full truckload before being sold for the best price). You'll definitely see material waiting for shipping when you enter our facility.  We work hard to make it clean and organized, so it's quite amazing to see!

These numbers represent material that is already on its way to a second life!

Come check us out "Every day with a 'T' in it"

Open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 11-7.

Please visit our Facebook page @CloverRecycles for daily updates, or check back here monthly on our blog to see what is going on.

WE DESPERATELY NEED VOLUNTEERS!!  We can use everyone's help to clean, organize and prepare our location for our daily visitors.  Any age and any ability as our facility can even accommodate wheelchairs and walkers. We need everything from Greeters, Offloading assistants, sorters, quality control, equipment operators and even semi-truck drivers.   Won't you stop in for a few hours?  Check out our Volunteer and Donation page for more information.

           What do we Recycle?
                  HOW SHOULD IT BE PREPARED?

We take glass, plastic, metal, wire, paper, books, cardboard, batteries, electronics and LOTS of weird stuff. Prepare it by cleaning it and removing lids...that's pretty much it!

Visit the Gallery to find a printable cheat sheet of everything that we take and instructions on how to prepare it.

See below or click on the links above for the breakdown of each category:

GLASS!
Labels can stay on, unless you are bringing them in to crush for your sand or decorative glass projects. Rinse or "clean out the chunks" and remove the lids.
Easy Button Method (for those that are new to recycling here at Clover, or don't have much time or space at home and want to spend more time with us when they come, lol!): Remove lids (put plastic in your plastic container, metal in your metal container), bring all of them in one bin, regardless of color.  We will help you sort them when you get here.
Super Clover Recycler Method (for those that LOVE recycling and don't mind doing a little extra at home to make your visit faster and more efficient):
Clear Glass (Called FLINT): NO Tinted green glass (those go in colored). Clear or Flint is worth 50% more than colored, so we separate Flint from colored.  Any size, shape or type. Now includes window panes, tempered glass, drinking glasses, shower door glass, etc.  NO windshields (they have plastic in them) and definitely no lightbulbs (they are a hot mess of material, including hazardous materials).
Colored Glass:  All sizes and types but separated by color.  Sorry, no CERAMIC or Porcelain like coffee mugs, tiles, or plates
Miscellaneous Glass:  Mirrors, milk glass and Crystal must be put in the special bin or it will contaminate the other material.  We will crush this material and resell it for artists and crafters. Or if it's in good condition, we will move it to the Lucky Clover shop for reselling.

PLASTICS!

You will find 11 large gaylord bins in the Plastic Station with labels on them for each type of plastic that we accept. We accept EVERY TYPE of consumer plastic with a number inside the Recycling Circle of Arrows, usually on the bottom, but sometimes on the label.  More recently we've seen companies just putting the arrows with no number.  If you see this, just rinse it out, remove the cap and bring it in. We know where it goes!

Be sure the plastic has NO METAL of any kind on or inside these plastic items or it will break our machines! Metal must be removed and placed in its appropriate bin, regardless of how small. Again, if any metal is on any piece, please put these in with the Tin/Steel Cans bin, including springs inside sprayer bottles!

For the fastest visit, please remove all lids and caps (those are recycled in the "Scrap Plastic" bin) and separate by numbers. Numbers are hard to see and sometimes impossible to find, but if your items are clean and the lids removed, our volunteers can help sort it very quickly. Bins are labeled and numbered in chronological order:

   Easy Button Method:
Clean out and remove all lids/caps/tops. Put them in one container (be sure to put metal lids and caps separately). This makes it super fast for us to sort. As you carry your bin, we separate and toss them where they go.

   Super Clover Recycler Method:
#1 PET/PETE Thermoforms (which are: ToGo Clamshells, Produce packaging (remove the film and paper from inside it!), some clear egg cartons and clear cups.

#1 PET/PETE Bottles & Jars (almost all water bottles, soda and juice bottles go here. Starting to see some cleaners, hand soap and pet food containers as #1 now too.)
#2 HDPE Natural (just means the color is opaque or doesn't have any dye in it at all)  These are almost all milk jugs, vinegar bottles, witch hazel or isopropyl alcohol bottles, etc. This is the only plastic we separate by a color because it has none! It is used to make lumber and is worth more than 10 times its colored counterpart.

#2 HDPE Dyed  These are the heavier bottles like laundry detergent, milk jugs, chemicals, etc.

#3 V  This plastic is Vinyl.  This is where PVC, vinyl records, some bottles (like pet treat containers, car cleaning, etc) go.
#4 LDPE This plastic is usually bendable or squeezable and often used for jelly or mustard containers, large lids, old Tupperware containers or large items that are used outside in the elements, like trash cans are usually #4.
          #5 PP
This plastic is almost always refrigerated dairy containers, almost all reheatable ToGo containers, laundry baskets, most garden pots and many large items like lawn chairs, children's playsets, rainbarrels, etc.  Please rinse out or wash off, especially flower pots.

#6 PS This plastic is "crunchy", rips easily, melts in the microwave even if you are watching it, and sounds like a drum when you tap on it. It's usually clear (like clamshells for bakery items), but is also solid color like "solo cups". Be careful not to put in with #1 containers or you'll contaminate the #1s!!
#7 OTHER This is the catchall for the industry when plastic is a mixture of everything and nothing specific. This is usually where pet food containers, hair salon product bottles, PLA (the newest type of plastic that is causing nightmares for recycling), and just plain "other".

Scrap Plastic: This bin is labeled "SCRAP PLASTIC LIDS/CAPS BIN" If it's smaller than the palm of your hand, it will fall through our baling machines, so it is processed differently.  Put in any (disregard the number on the bottom) plastic lids, caps, straws, hangers, and flat dense pieces of plastic.

METAL & WIRE!
Easy Button Method:  Throw all metal and wire in one of your bins. We will help you when you get here.
   Super Clover Recycler Method:
You will find 3 gaylords (really big bins), a scrap trailer, multiple barrels for wire and specialty metals but we don't expect you to know where this weird stuff goes as it gets confusing. Crushing isn't necessary and labels can remain on. Don't know what you have and don't have a magnet to check? If a can, use our magnet that is in the Steel Bin. If it sticks...it goes in that bin.  If not a can, set it in front of the Black Scrap Trailer and we'll find its proper home. When in doubt, just leave it in a box or bag and set it on the designated "Misfits" pallet.  We will sort it.
Steel or "Tin", Lids and Aerosol Cans: If a magnet sticks to it, it goes in this bin.

Aluminum Cans, Lids and Aerosol Cans: (NOT magnetic) Soda/Pop cans, some pet food containers and some juice cans. No need to puncture cans...our flattener will do it safely, just be sure no product is left in it.

Aluminum Foil, Trays and Lids: NO "pouches" that look like metal....like coffee bags and tuna pouches. These are NOT metal but a plastic called Mylar.  (Please get most food scraps removed. If a raccoon, a rat or an opossum would like it for a treat, please clean it some more.)
Steel:  This is for any size and any condition steel and steel scrap like hangers, rusty ventilation grates, curtain rods, appliances, tire rims, gym equipment, rusty pipes, garden tools, etc. It can even have plastic or other material on it, as long as it is mostly metal.   (If a magnet sticks to it and it's not a can, it goes in here. Can't lift it? Just get it to us and we will offload it.)
Mixed Metals: Any metal that is not a can or steel.  Place in the bin and we will separate it or move it to the Clover Thrift if it has a resell value.

Wires and Cords: Any wire (insulated or bare), any length any condition, including decorative (aka Christmas) light strings, chargers, extension cords, etc.
Specialty Metal:  Stainless Steel, Copper, Brass, Silver, Gold (haha), Titanium, Platinum, etc.  Please either set in front of the Black Scrap Trailer or ask a volunteer.  We have large blue rolling bins for these metals.

PAPER!
Paper is probably the most confusing to recycle. Just remember, when in doubt, it's junk mail.
   Easy Button Method:
You need at least 4 containers or bags: cardboard, paper, newspaper, books/magazines. We will separate the valuable white paper from the junk mail and shredded paper (but it takes awhile), and the books from the magazines but we need this separated into at least those 4 categories.
   Super Clover Recycler Method:
              Cardboard:
Corrugated, paperboard (cereal like boxes), file folders (take metal out of hanging folders and put in steel!), brown packing or moving paper, construction paper, paper grocery bags (brown or white) and now even shiny cardboard like ice cream tubs and ToGo coffee cups.  (NO MILK/JUICE/PROTEIN DRINK CARTONS at all.  NO "WAX covered" or shiny boxes like Orange juice or alternative milk cartons, produce and frozen meat shipment boxes.  If you can scratch it with your fingernail and paraffin wax comes off, this is not recyclable here at this time.)
White Paper:  White based paper, any size or shape.  If it comes from a computer or a notebook and was initially white, this is "white paper". Formerly called Xerox paper. Colored ink is okay but no colored post it notes, no glued items like envelope sealing, no plastic pieces (like envelope windows), no colored paper, no miscellaneous paper as those all go in Junk Mail. Staples are okay.  Paper clips and those squeeze binders need pulled off (put them in metal).
Newspaper:  Newspaper and their coupons and inserts go here.  If the insert is hard like cardboard, you can put it into cardboard, but it's okay if it stays in the newspaper.  Typically, if it came in the newspaper, it can stay in the newspaper. Please remove from bags.  Moving packing paper also goes here if it looks like newsprint without the print.
                 Junk Mail:
Junk mail, colored paper, wrapping paper, tissue paper and any other paper that is not from the other categories.  When in doubt...it's junk mail, EXCEPT NO paper towels, tea bags, tissues or napkins....and definitely no toilet paper. Eww.
Shredded Paper:  If you shredded white paper only, dump in white paper. If you shredded junk mail (even one piece), please dump in junk mail.  If you don't know what you have, please leave in the bags and place into the Shredded Paper bin.  We will separate it for you.  We also have have kennels and farms that purchase this for use as animal bedding.
Books (Hardback and Paperback): New, old, moldy, smelly or perfect. All go together, same bin.  If it has a glued binding but isn't shiny, it goes here.
Magazines:  New, old, moldy, or perfect.  Can also recycle photographs here.  (Just remove the envelopes, negatives and slides.) If it has a glued binding and IS shiny, it goes here.

WEIRD STUFF!
Easy Button Method: Make sure it's somewhat clean (get the chunks off), bring it in and we'll "diagnose" it.  You may end up taking it back home, but at least we tried.
   Super Clover Recycler Method:
ALL Kinds of Batteries:  Alkaline (i.e.: AAA, AA, 9V, C, D, "button" batteries), rechargeable and Lead Acid (Car, Mower, etc).

Baby and Children's Clothes ONLY:  (Terracycle partnership)  Carter, a maker of baby and children's clothes has offered to pay for our shipping of ANY BRAND of baby or children's clothing donated.  We will pay for labels, labor, supplies and boxes to offer this service.
Electronics:  VCRs, radios, computers, anything digital, televisions TVs, phones, etc.  Monitors (i.e. TVs or monitors, regardless if cabinet or flat screen) require a small donation to recycle that is based on its size.  Donation required will not exceed $40 per item.
Propane Tanks: Any condition, age or fill level.
Printer Cartridges:  Any brand, any condition, but separated when you arrive.

           Packing Material:
Packing Peanuts, Bubble Wrap, Bubble Envelopes have a special bin as many resellers have asked to purchase and reuse then.  We are happy to accommodate.  Please be sure to either "sharpie" out your address or remove the label.
Styrofoam and Foam Packaging: NOW TAKING FOAM PACKAGING! (Commonly referred by its commercial name "Styrofoam")  Although we have begun accepting ToGo Containers, we are having problems with cleanliness.  Even one tiny speck of food will invite rodents and roaches.  We will be sticklers about this, so please don't be offended if we decline your stained or soiled items and request they get another bath before bringing them back.  We have to hold onto the material for months at a time and those small specks are an entire meal for a rodent or roach.  We don't want those types of customers!!!
Egg Cartons:  Styrofoam or Cardboard cartons.  Must be clean (no egg residue) and not cut in half.  If we get too many, we will recycle them but we have farms and farmettes that come in for them weekly.
Household Donations:  Only smaller re-sellable items that can be recycled if not sold.  Think glassware, metalware, electronics, appliances, metal decor, etc.  Call for confirmation that we accept your items if questionable on size.  We reserve the right to refuse or inspect items before you depart and will ask that you do not leave them lying in the front of the building or walkways.
CLEAN Clothing and CLEAN RAG Donations: Clothing of all quality (rags and damaged items go in their own bin), outerware, footware, accessories (hats, purses, belts, etc), stuffed animals, bedding (sheets, blankets, comforters, sleeping bags, but no foam mattresses!), tablecloths, cloth napkins, towels, curtains, scrap fabric, crafting fabric, and generally anything made from fabric!

STAY TUNED FOR MORE "WEIRD STUFF"...as we are always expanding our materials and opportunities to save items from the land fill.  Or please visit:  www.TerraCycle.com to see all of the products that you can recycle.  If we happen to be missing a program, please let us know!  We are a drop off for all of their programs.

This includes: Foil, "Plastic-y" or Mirror like bags- Plastic that looks shiny like foil (called "mylar") but isn't foil, or a mirror-like (potato chip bags, pringle containers), or the durable plastic bags that are used to hold pet food or litter.
